MOTHERHOOD IS A SACRED JOURNEY
My journey to birth work definitely begins with my own birth story.
In my Mum's written version of the story she states that she wished some of her calm had rubbed off on her midwife, as the midwife was rushing to call the second midwife (who was not going to get there in time anyway) and Mum was simply having a baby. I was a surprise breech birth at home in rural New Zealand.
Mum went on to have a planned breech birth at home with my brother. I grew up hearing these stories and seeing the photos. Birth was such a normal conversation in our house while we were growing up.

It's only recently come to my awareness how lucky I was as a baby. Would Mum have chosen to give birth at home had she known I was breech? Would her midwife have convinced her it was unsafe to have a breech birth at home so far away from a hospital?

Instead I grew up knowing the innate power of women's bodies and having complete trust in the birth process. I want all women to know this too.

I am a Radical Birth Keeper and sacred space holder for women during pregnancy, birth and postpartum. I walk, in sisterhood, alongside women who know their inner power and are ready to claim it through the rite of passage that is birth and motherhood.
